Commercial — and the compliance that comes with it.
For a business, the runoff rule is not theoretical. A storefront washing grey water into the kerb is the exact scenario LAMC § 64.70.03 exists to stop, and it is the business that gets the notice.

What this job actually involves
Why compliance is the commercial selling point
Residential runoff is rarely noticed. A commercial frontage on a busy street, washed at 6am with grey water running to the grate, is visible to anyone — including the people who report it. Under § 64.70.03 that discharge is prohibited, and § 64.70.02 D makes a violation a misdemeanour unless the code says otherwise.
We block drains, capture the water and take it away. If your property manager or franchisor asks how wastewater is handled, that is a question with a real answer rather than a shrug.
How commercial differs from residential
- Certificate of insurance naming the property, provided before the first visit — tell us who to name.
- Out of hours. Early mornings, evenings and Sundays are normal. A frontage cannot be closed at lunchtime.
- Scheduled service. Most storefronts want monthly or quarterly rather than a rescue wash. Priced per visit, cheaper than the one-off.
- Invoiced on terms, with a PO reference if your accounts team needs one.
Gum, grease and the loading area
Sidewalk gum needs steam or a dedicated remover, not pressure. Grease near a kitchen exit is a degreaser job and, if it reaches a drain, a compliance one. Both are quoted after we look, because guessing at either from a photo is how people end up disappointed.
